When you add a widget to a report, you choose how the KPI is visualized. Each display type serves a different analytical purpose. Choosing the right one depends on what question you are trying to answer.
Metric Block
A single large number with an optional trend indicator. Best for KPIs where the current value is what matters most: total revenue, active customers, conversion rate. The metric block shows the headline figure prominently. When a comparison period is active, it displays the percentage change between periods.
Line Chart
A time series visualization that plots data points connected by lines over time. Best for tracking trends: daily orders, weekly revenue, monthly visitors. Each date range appears as a separate line, making period comparisons immediately visible.
Area Chart
Similar to a line chart, but with the area beneath the line filled in. Best for emphasizing volume over time: cumulative revenue, total sessions, inventory levels. The filled area makes it easier to perceive magnitude.
Bar Chart
Vertical bars representing values across categories or time periods. Best for discrete comparisons: revenue by product category, orders by channel, performance by region. When multiple date ranges are active, bars appear side by side.
Table Chart
A detailed tabular view of the underlying data. Best when you need exact numbers rather than visual trends: itemized transaction lists, detailed breakdowns by dimension, data export preparation. Tables show rows and columns with precise values.
Scatter Plot
Data points plotted on X and Y axes without connecting lines. Best for identifying correlations and outliers across two variables.
Pie Chart
A circular chart divided into proportional segments. Best for showing the composition of a whole: market share distribution, revenue split by category.
